Typepad featured weblog!
Grow-a-brain was picked as Typepad’s Featured Blog on November 10th, and appeared on their home page for the whole day! ..."It's filled with links vacuumed from all corners of the Internet, creating a fascinating, useful, humorous, and just plain fun site. Ego-Surfing
Martin Waugh credits some of the exposure to his “Liquid Sculpture” site (Scroll to bottom): “The traffic level had been about 30 visits a day; then I got listed on two weblogs about eight weeks ago. Suddenly, the number of visits jumped to 3000 the next day. The day after that, I got 20,000 visits. In the past two months I’ve had half a million people visit my site. The first weblog to pick me up was growabrain. The second was boingboing. There’s a site out there that measures what links are the most popular on weblogs, and for a couple of days I was number one…”

2nd degree of terrible separation
I was shocked to find out over the weekend that not only did the killer who planned to eat the murdered girl in Oklahoma, linked to Grow-a-brain on his blog, but that I actually linked to his blog over two years ago! Since yesterday I’ve been getting many hits from the surfers who heard about his blog “Strange Things are Afoot at the Circle K.” What an awful, small world. I could do without this proximity…

The reason for blogging
A few weeks ago I received this email:
Hanan,
I noticed that my site was listed as one of Yahoo! Picks of the Year. I thought I’d drop you a note to thank you again and let you know what’s up with me…
...It is not an exaggeration to say that you listing my site on your blog resulted in my work being seen by hundreds of thousands of people from all parts of the world. It placed my work in several national and international magazines, newspapers, and websites, connected me with many new cyber-colleagues, and lead to sales. The repercussions are felt in all parts of my life. I am most fortunate, indeed.
I wish you the very best New Year and beyond,
Martin Waugh, Liquid Sculpture
- All the best, Martin! Your site deserves all the credit it gets!
