Happy Loving Day
On June 12th, 1967, interracial couples became legal thanks to the Supreme Court decision entitled Loving v. Virginia. Before that date, states had the right to separate and punish interracial couples. These punishments included imprisonment of up to ten years. Violations included marriage, sex, and living together. This issue is a part of the civil rights movement that is too often forgotten. On June 12th of every year, celebrate your legal right to love a person of any race

Shana Tova All
I’m not sure exactly when, but the Jewish New Year is approaching. Here is everything you want to know about Rosh Hashana. A custom on Rosh Hashana is to eat foods that are signs for good things. For example, it is customary to eat from a fish head and say, "Our Father in Heaven, let us be like the head and not the tail." The new custom is to cut a raisin in two equal pieces and place it along with a piece of iceberg lettuce in a stalk of celery. While eating this, you should say, "Our Father in Heaven, lettuce half a raisin celery".

Season's greetings
The Selling of the American Calendar: I'm Dreaming of a White National Cheese Day - Practically every day, every week, and every month has its own name. Only instead of "Eggplant" and "Thermidor," we have "Moon Day," "National Chemistry Week," "National Peanut Butter Lovers' Month," and even "National Mustard Day." And every one of these holidays has a sponsor, a person or group who's spent the money convincing Congress and/or calendar makers to include his or her holiday, no matter how spurious…
Yes, you can celebrate every day and The Earth Calendar is a daybook of holidays and celebrations around the world
Have a nice Solstice Celebration today

Happiness
Why is this little Movie about happiness so cute and touching that it stops me from doing “very important business” in the middle of the day, and causes me to blog it immediately, when what I really should be doing is “working”?
Is it because of the Bobby Darin’s song Somewhere Beyond the Sea? Or is it because it is a symbol for all of us, sitting at midnight alone in a dark room, searching for the meaning of happiness on Google, and always getting distracted by some silly rabbits?
Found at Leuschke.
Later: Johnny Chung Lee, the creator responsible for this clip, is also the guy behind the $14 Steady-Cam which made the rounds a few weeks ago, as well as the electric cello and other contraptions. A web celebrity in the making.

Since the end of August, a life-sized icon of the Christ is exuding pure olive oil. It forms in beads all over the painted surface of the icon, and is captured in receptacles and on wads of cotton wool laid at the base. So far since it began, more than three litres of the oil has been collected…"
