Godfather haikus
Don Vito is gone
now the score must be settled
baptism and blood
Mike whacks Sollozzo
to protect the family
it's strictly business
All-out gangland war
Sonny pays a heavy toll
riddled with bullets
Kay wants to believe
but she's already lost him
Mike is now the Don
Corleone wedding
war hero Michael comes home
godfather holds court
I'm gonna make him
an offer he can't refuse
horse head in the sheets
Such a thoughtful thug
Clemenza says leave the gun,
take the cannoli
A Haikuvie sums up the plot of an entire movie in just 7 haiku poems. It captures the essence of the film and mixes in commentary and humor as space permits

Where would John Cazale be if he was still alive?
John Gazale was one of my favorite actors. He only played in five movies before dying of cancer, but all of them were nominated for Best pictures, and all of them I could (and did) watch again and again:
He was known by his first name in all those rolls. He excelled playing all those characters - Fredo at The 2 Godfathers, stosh at The Deer Hunter, Stan at The conversation and Sal at Dog Day Afternoon
So, Where would he be today if he didn’t die?
And where would we be if he never existed? Streepless and Pacinoless
Extra: Moe Green (Alex Rocco) in Jack Woltz bedroom scene

A man who doesn't spend time with his family can never be a real man
A Sicilian message. In a desperate attempt to understand his own psychosis, Jonn Elledge presents ten suspicious parallels between the War on Terror and The Godfather trilogy.
1. Both have a rich and powerful family at their centre, fighting a war to ensure their own continued dominance.
2. Both are incredibly violent.
3. Both feature an enemy that will blow up cars and kill innocent people in their attempts to damage the Family.
4. Neither begins in earnest until a terrible peace time attack on the Family and their interests leads to a growing desire for revenge, and the Family's son – who incidentally looked lovely in his nice military uniform – needs to prove to all the doubters that he is a strong leader in his own right. But you cannot get rid of this lingering feeling that he just wants revenge for what they did to his dad. (More)
