Carl Gustavovich Fabergé

Faberg_egg A Fabergé egg is any one of sixty-nine jewelled eggs made by Peter Carl Fabergé and his assistants between 1885 and 1917.

Fifty Imperial Fabergé Easter eggs were made and presented to Czars Alexander III and Nicholas II of Russia. A further two eggs were planned but not delivered, the Constellation and Karelian Birch eggs of 1917.

Seven of the eggs were made for the Kelch family of Moscow.

The eggs are made of precious metals or hard stones decorated with combinations of enamel and gem stones. The term "Fabergé Egg" has become a synonym of luxury and the eggs are regarded as masterpieces of the jeweler's art.

Carl Fabergé and his goldsmiths designed and constructed the first egg in 1885. It was commissioned by Tsar Alexander III of Russia as an Easter surprise for his wife Maria Fyodorovna.

On the outside it looked like a simple egg of white enamelled gold, but it opened up to reveal a golden yolk. The yolk itself had a golden hen inside it, which in turn had a tiny crown with a ruby hanging inside, reminiscent of the matryoshka nesting dolls.

Empress Maria was so delighted by this gift that Alexander appointed Fabergé a "Court Supplier" and commissioned an Easter gift each year thereafter, stipulating only that it be unique and contain a surprise. His son, Nicholas II of Russia continued the tradition, annually presenting an egg each spring to his wife Alexandra Fyodorovna as well as his then-widowed mother.

Famous Fabergé Egg Collectors: Malcolm Stevenson Forbes, Victor Vekselberg, Lillian Thomas Pratt, The Royal Collection, Matilda Geddings Gray, Marjorie Merriweather Post, William and Henry Walters, King Farouk of Egypt, Edouard and Maurice Sandoz, India Early Minshall, Prince Rainier III de Monaco, Armand Hammer.

'Fix You'

When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
COULD IT BE WORSE?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

The original

Best blog I know

Best_award The most common question that I get in emails is “Can you link to my site?” The second most common question is “Where do you find all that stuff?” Well, now it can be told. For over a year now, I’ve been scouring this most original site, and so I bring to you here - Hemaworstje / Fulminatia / TollFreedom / Hopsakee.

This Shock-blogger (From Holland? From Alabama?) digs into places that few of the traditional “Link-sifters” dare go, and his generous daily link-dump is always filled with incredible finds.

Be warned that his choices are often NSFW, and sometimes they are extremely offensive. Still you’ll regularly find there undecipherable Russian cartoons, obscure East-European eye-candy, outrageous usage of large weaponry, absurdities from the orient, unrelated wonders & some of the most gorgeous naked women in the world. The site often changes design (A few months ago, it went all white and you had to blindly click on a white screen to find the hidden links!), so don’t get too comfortable when approaching it.

Since it doesn’t look like he keeps archives which preserves his complete output, I decided to do something a little different here today, and under the category of Best of Everything, simply copy a bunch of unusual links (Many video clips) from the excellent Hemaworstje Fulminatia / Hopsakee !

Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps: "My friend is dead! What can I do?" The operator says: "Calm down, I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead."
There is a silence, then a shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says: "OK, now what?"
