Free book
“I found a book underneath my hutch. It’s called "Learn to make good sandwiches". It’s missing a lot of pages but if you like to eat sandwiches a lot you may want it. It looks like hell. Water has been spilled all over it and some of the pages are stuck together. I tried to put some heat from my blow dryer on the pages to loosen them but it didn’t work very good. it actually got more ripped up and shredded because of it. It’s pretty beat up for sure, but hey, if you want it come and get it. if not - its fire starter!!!!”

Mad Men
Since I don’t have a teevee, I must miss out all the good “shows”. Somehow I saw a clip last year called The Wheel which moved me, even when I didn’t know its background.
But now I do, and it’s much richer than the casual viewing may suggest. Last week I was able to watch the whole season of a television show called Mad Men, and then I watched it again, I liked it so much.
It seems that there are many people who love this program. There are blogs dedicated to Mad Men, (Basket of Kisses). Prof. Paul Levinson analyzes each episode and follows up with interviews. The NY Times reviews it.
Update: Here's the personal blog of Rich Sommer who plays Harry Crane on the series!

By the way, I wanted to thank everybody who emailed me regarding the freelance writing gig I posted the other day. We have a lawyer checking on some “statutory” considerations relating to a certain IRS code, in order to see how to structure the enterprise. We’ll know soon if the project is possible, and I’ll contact everybody who wrote.

Haddon Sundblom was best known for the images of Santa Claus he created for The Coca-Cola Company. He also designed many of the FormFit ads in the late 1940s and early '50s. His last assignment was for the December 1972 cover of Playboy magazine. (From the extensive American Art Archives, where you can also find an illustrated essay of Pepsi advertising from the 1950s)
