Yeah that sinkhole is absolutely unreal. But blaming that on recent rain or sewage mains breaking seems counter-intuitive. A 330 foot deep sheer-walled pit doesn't just appear. My guess is that it was pre-existing. My understanding is that Guatemala, and much of the Yucatan, features many sinkholes caused by volcanism and the chicxulub crater. MSN Encarta says "The surface is pockmarked with circular sinkholes through which rivers disappear to flow through underground caverns" but they're referring to northern Guatemala.
