Considering less than an hour ago I had a conversation with a gentleman who sincerly believed torture was necessary and good, the Taxonomy of Torture site made me quite sick ...
He thought those "terrorists might know something important" even after being locked up for years.
When I pointed out that:
* the "information" would likely be out of date and therefore worthless
* that even the head of the CIA didn't think torture was effective
* that the CIA thought most of the detainees were innocent
* that the continued torture would certainly encourage new hatred of us and more attacks
I pointed out all these things, but he still replied, "then we might as well kill them all, so they don't become terrorists".
Bush, Cheney, and Fox news have left a great legacy. I will never feel clean again.
