- This is a post from June 2003 -

After reading John Dean's article "Missing Weapons Of Mass Destruction: Is Lying About The Reason For War An Impeachable offense?” on June 6, 2003, I blogged the following: "...I am coining here today the expression "Weapongate" - (No results for "weapongate" on "Google"...) If the "Missing WMD's case" is to accelerate into Nixon'eske proportions in the next few years - remember folks, you heard it here first...” Who was better qualified than John Dean to understand such matters?... And who is to emerge as this Gate's Woodward and Bernstein Sleuths? ...

But the “Weapongate” phrase didn’t catch on, not as a moniker or as a political sentiment. Americans didn’t care. During June of 2003, a few dozen articles popped up here & there - (Khilafa , "News Observer" , Politics in the Zeros , Ghost in the Machine , Diversionz , Tom Paine common sense , Neil Wolman , Reality Checker and Random Drivel. More). And since than, the aftermath of the war in Iraq took over the world’s attention...

Three weeks later, I discovered a "Counterpunch" article by Wayne Madsen, called "WeaponsGate: The Coming Downfall of Lying Regimes?" that had been making the rounds in the liberal media since its publication on 6/10/03. This put an end to my “Weapongate” page: Not only was I a day late and a dollar short, but I also misspelled that crucial word...

So, will the "Weapongate Affair" turn up during the 2004 election? Here are some items relevant to this debate.
