numbers.jpg"59372 98324 19043 78903 95320.... The mechanized female voice drones on and on... What have you stumbled on to? Instructions to spies? Messages exchanged between drug dealers? Deliberate attempts at deception and mis-information? " Chances are, all of the above! What you've tuned in to is called a "Spy Numbers Station". To listen in, and learn more, SpyNumbers.com has a list of numbers stations and a database, including what stations may be on the air right now .

And for an in-depth personal memoir of espionage, escape, spycraft, love, betrayal, and, yes, secret messages relayed via a numbers station, read Thomas Wagner's story of "how my mother and I became de-facto spies and participated in the biggest defection case in the 50 year history of the former East-Germany." (There's a missing link from page 7 to page 8; this will take you forward.)

Interesting story.

However, not all number-droning voices that come over the radio are spy messages.

I was a wireless operator in the army and we sometimes had to listen to the radio to someone calling these numbers and then translate them into morse code.
Just for exercising your skills.

By the way, the site looks good, Hanan.
