Welcome back to the Dark Side

Dark_side "A lot of what needs to be done here will have to be done quietly, without any discussion, using sources and methods that are available to our intelligence agencies…. The government would have to operate on the "dark side." FRONTLINE tells the story of Cheney's role as the chief architect of the war on terror, and his battle with George Tenet for control of the "dark side." Drawing on more than 40 interviews and thousands of documents, the film provides a step-by-step examination of what happened inside the councils of war.

Have you ever thought you’ll start hearing people say I'm beginning to miss Nixon? (Pass from Bugmenot)

Weapongate Re-visited
Moment_of_truth 23 July 2002: This record is extremely sensitive. No further copies should be made. It should be shown only to those with a genuine need to know its contents.

“Apart from 9/11, has there been a more important story in the last decade than that the president lied to the American people about the reasons for invading Iraq, and then proceeded to plunge the country into an illegal war which has alienated the rest of the world, lit a fire under the war's victims and the Islamic world generally, turning them into enemy combatants, locked up virtually all American land forces in a war without end in sight, cost $300 billion and counting, taken over 1600 American lives on top of more than 15,000 gravely wounded, and killed perhaps 100,000 Iraqis?

Did you know that there now exists in the public domain a 'smoking gun' memo, which proves that everything the Bush administration said about the Iraq invasion was a lie? If you live in Britain you probably do, but if you live in the United States, chances are minuscule that you would be aware of this…”

Stop the charade!

watregate.gifI want to read “Worse Than Watergate: The Secret Presidency of George W. Bush.” By John Dean.
From the Publisher: Former White House counsel and New York Times bestselling author John Dean reveals how the Bush White House has set America back decades—employing a worldview and tactics of deception that will do more damage to the nation than Nixon at his worst.

Bush's "needless war" - Accusing the president of "pure, unadulterated fear-mongering," Sen. Edward Kennedy delivers a scathing indictment of the administration's case for invading Iraq. "We don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud"…

"Is Lying About The Reason For War An Impeachable offense?” – See our 2003 discourse about “Weapongate”.

- This is a post from June 2003 -

After reading John Dean's article "Missing Weapons Of Mass Destruction: Is Lying About The Reason For War An Impeachable offense?” on June 6, 2003, I blogged the following: "...I am coining here today the expression "Weapongate" - (No results for "weapongate" on "Google"...) If the "Missing WMD's case" is to accelerate into Nixon'eske proportions in the next few years - remember folks, you heard it here first...” Who was better qualified than John Dean to understand such matters?... And who is to emerge as this Gate's Woodward and Bernstein Sleuths? ...

But the “Weapongate” phrase didn’t catch on, not as a moniker or as a political sentiment. Americans didn’t care. During June of 2003, a few dozen articles popped up here & there - (Khilafa , "News Observer" , Politics in the Zeros , Ghost in the Machine , Diversionz , Tom Paine common sense , Neil Wolman , Reality Checker and Random Drivel. More). And since than, the aftermath of the war in Iraq took over the world’s attention...

Three weeks later, I discovered a "Counterpunch" article by Wayne Madsen, called "WeaponsGate: The Coming Downfall of Lying Regimes?" that had been making the rounds in the liberal media since its publication on 6/10/03. This put an end to my “Weapongate” page: Not only was I a day late and a dollar short, but I also misspelled that crucial word...

So, will the "Weapongate Affair" turn up during the 2004 election? Here are some items relevant to this debate.

"Early draft of interim report being written by American leading the hunt for banned weapons in Iraq says his team has not yet found any nuclear, biological or chemical weapons stockpiles in Iraq ..." - 9/24/03

The Impeachment of Andrew Johnson- 11/8/03

Disarm Saddam "The gravest danger we face in the war on terror is outlaw regimes that seek and possess nuclear, chemical and biological weapons." - 9/13/03

Impeach Bush now "Unmasking a CIA agent is bad, lying to Congress worse. With each U.S. death in Iraq, the case against the President grows stronger." - 10/14/03

Questions for president Bush's next press conference , from the New Yorker": "Is Bulgaria still part of the coalition, and, if so, what have they done for us lately?" - 11/12/03

The Oil Tree - 11/12/03

"Find Those Weapons Puzzle" , the hunt for the real WMD. (From "Collective Detective" , a community of immersive games & Mysteries) - 12/17/03

Timeline of the Iraqi WMDs - "From a marketing point of view, you don't introduce new products in August" - 12/21/03
