In a media conference today, noted outdoorsman Elmer Fudd called for the assassination of noted trickster icon and longtime rival Bugs Bunny. "We've got the wesouwces," explained Mr. Fudd. "I think we should do it. Mr. Bunny has been a continual thweat to many of the things we hold deaw. He is a weading cause of decawwotization. He is a poisonous pwesence in the opera world. And his twack record with the env--env--env--enviwo-env--it's terrible. He has wuniously distuwbed gopher habitats between here and Albuquerque."
Cartoon tattoos. Early in June, a firefighter from New Jersey contacted me to ask permission to tattoo my cartoon from 9/11. He mentioned that many of his fire fighting buddies had "inked" themselves in memory of the tragic day. I felt honored that he felt that way about my work and gave permission. A month later, he sent me a photo of his arm with the black outlines of the tattoo completed. His plans were to have it colorized on Sept 12. As many editorial cartoonists know, most of our work is fleeting in its message and context. But to have my work permanently etched on another human... think about it.
